11/21/2011 – No Workout Monday

CrossFit Palo Alto is closed for Thanksgiving break. Tim posted a Mobility WOD that I intend to do sometime this week. You can find the WOD here.

It was too crazy this morning with lil’ AMRAP to do a workout. It turned out to be a busy day at work too. So much for just chillin’ the rest of the week and doing no work. Here’s a quick recap. I was not prepared today, but stayed cleaned.

For breakfast, I had a large philitered soul with heavy cream. I didn’t bring breakfast, but had a can of sardines with a small primal pac.

I went to Sports Basement to pick up my Turkey Trot bib and then met coworkers at Dish n Dash. They ordered me a chicken shawrma salad with dressing on the salad. I forgot to take a pic, but it was yummy!

I was so busy at work in the afternoon and I had to run errands(Whole Foods and pick up our turkey from the Marin Sun Farms CSA drop off). I picked up a packet of Justin’s Almond Butter. I sucked on it while driving in traffic. That gave me a bit of energy to get home and play with the kids until they went to bed.

Luckily I asked hubby to prepare a roasted chicken. It only took an hour to bake, thank god!! I was starving!

11/20/2011 – Happy 4 Months to Lil’ AMRAP

Today is Lil’ AMRAPs 4 month birthday! Crazy that he’s been here for 4 months already. I can’t imagine life without him. My lil buddha!

I woke up super early and threw this piece of pork into the slow cooker. I’m really not sure what kind of cut it is. My guess is Pork Shoulder Arm Steak. Anyone have any clues?

I seasoned the pork with Chili Con Carne Seasoning and let it sit in the fridge for 12 hours. I cut up 2 onions and 2 carrots and threw it in the slow cooker. Placed the pork on top and dumped 1/4 a cup of chicken broth into it to add moisture. I let it sit for close to 11 hours before taking it out. Still felt a little tough, but so good! You can’t go wrong with the Chili Con Carne Seasoning!

Hubby made 2 eggs with some spinach and ghee for breakfast.

After, I took the older kiddo to Philz and Campbell Farmer’s Market. We beat the rush at the farmers market, and I got a whole bunch of veggies for our Thanksgiving feast. Look at this twisty carrot I got.

One I prepped all the veggies and found space for it in our fridge, I warmed up leftover duck confit and sauteed kale.

Notice that I like to saute or roast a lot of veggies. I need to learn how to make some soup, because it’s starting to get REALLY REALLY cold.

Hubby wanted to invite friends over for the Niners and Sharks game. He went to go get Vietnamese Sandwiches for everyone. Since I already gobbled down lunch, I was not tempted!

The pork wasn’t enough for everyone who stayed for dinner, so I quickly whipped up some Spaghetti and Meatballs for our guests. It was yummy and easy. I forgot to take a pic, but I had 4 or 5 meatballs with carrots from the slow cooker and fresh olives!

11/19/2011 – Good Eats

I love Saturdays because I’m not rushing out of the door half asleep. I woke up in the morning and fed lil AMRAP and lil munchkin’. Then I headed to Philz to get me some Tesora. I’m not liking the Tesora w/o sugar, so I think I’ll stick with Anesthia next time. The Tesora is a little too bitter. I drank maybe half of it.

I also had 2 pastuerized eggs with a little bit of spinach and 2 strips of bacon.

For lunch I had 4.10 oz of Sous Vide Pork Chops with Sauteed spinach and napa cabbage. So delicious!! I seasoned the pork chops with Jerk Pork seasoning.

I got a little hungry just hanging around the house, so I had a small primal pac.

For dinner, I warmed up some Duck Confit because I didn’t have any other protein prepared. The duck confit at Costco is so easy to make, and I don’t have to defrost it beforehand because I have the Sous Vide Supreme now. I paired with sauteed kale & onions. Yummy to my tummy!

A good day of clean eats. That’s not easy for me on the weekends, and boy was I craving some dark chocolate!!

11/18/2011 – Good Eats

I had some coffee and heavy cream when I came into work, but barely finished it. Once I got around to heating up my food.

For breakfast, I ate my tuna salad with celery and apples. Homemade Mayo FTW!

Lunch was Cross Rib Roast with sauteed mushrooms and bok choy

I got home a little bit after 4, and was starving! I quickly warmed up some leftover Kalua Pig and wrapped it in a few SeaSnaxs. Yummy to my tummy. I ended up not eating dinner because I went to bed at 7PM. I slept till 7 in the morning, with probably 4 different wake ups. SIGH!

Calories: ~1043, This might be a bit higher because I had to estimate the tuna salad and mayo servings
Fat: ~62.2g
Carbs: 17.9g
Protein: 98.3g

11/18/2011 – Last WOD before Thanksgiving Break

I feel like I’m in school getting a Thanksgiving break from CFPA. The box will be closed next week, so I’m not sure what I’ll be doing to stay active. I’m doing the 5k Silicon Valley Turkey Trot on Thursday. Not going to push myself because I want to stick with some friends and support them. Should be fun just to get out there and see so many people get their fitness on!

Today we worked on Push Press and I paired up with Jackie again!

The last time I did Push Press was in June. I decided to stick to similar weight. I have to work on keeping the elbows up as I dip. I don’t want the elbows to go down when I dip because then there’s more work to bring the bar up.

WOD:

3 Rounds For Time

  • 21 Kettlebell SDHP(24Kg/16Kg)
  • 15 KB Swings
  • 9 Handstand Push Ups
  • I used the 16kg bell and the SDHPs seemed pretty easy for me. The swings went unbroken in all rounds. I used the jet pack for the HSPUs. What sucked was that in the last round, I got of the jet pack 3 times, versus not getting off the jet pack the first 2 rounds. Shoulders were burning, but I should of mentally push through. It was a good WOD though! Great way to end the week!

    Result: 6:13

    A quick recap of what I ate for the day. All clean, except for a bit of heavy cream in my coffee.

    Breakfast: Cross Rib Roast with brussel sprouts and the last of my kale.

    Snack: Small Primal Pac

    Lunch: Kalua Pork with brussel sprouts

    Snack: Sea Snax

    Dinner: Sous vide GrassFed Top Sirloin with bok choy, sauteed mushrooms, and baked sweet potatoes (no pic)

    Knocked out probably a little bit before 8.

    11/16/2011 – Good Eats

    I’m super sore today! Can’t wait for the rest day tomorrow.

    Breakfast: Coffee with heavy cream. Chicken breast with roasted carrots and sweet potatoes

    Lunch: Hamachi Sashimi, 2 california rolls(no rice), 1 spicy tuna roll(no rice)

    I left work a little early to beat some traffic and pick up my Marin Sun Farms Meat CSA Package. We ordered 50lb of Old Spot Heritage Pork. Most of the cuts weren’t labeled, so honestly, I do not know what they are! Some looked really bloody and slimy, so it could be heart or liver. LOL. I can’t wait to see what I can do with it though. Sous Vide machine in full effect! In addition to the pork, I got Package #1 which contains 24lb of “mystery” meat. We got all beef this time, which is fine with me because we love beef. Unfortunately, I’m still not sure whether to subscribe to the CSA for the long term. I’m trying to budget out how much we spend on food next year, so we don’t overspend. And honestly, we don’t really eat other types of meat such as lamb or veal.

    Here’s our packed freezer below. You see the package on the left? I have no clue what that is. It really sucks that they didn’t label the cuts.

    For dinner, we had Kalua Pork with kale and roasted brussel sprouts. Yummy!

    I had two packages of SeaSnax after I got home.
