11/18/2011 – Good Eats

19 Nov

I had some coffee and heavy cream when I came into work, but barely finished it. Once I got around to heating up my food.

For breakfast, I ate my tuna salad with celery and apples. Homemade Mayo FTW!

Lunch was Cross Rib Roast with sauteed mushrooms and bok choy

I got home a little bit after 4, and was starving! I quickly warmed up some leftover Kalua Pig and wrapped it in a few SeaSnaxs. Yummy to my tummy. I ended up not eating dinner because I went to bed at 7PM. I slept till 7 in the morning, with probably 4 different wake ups. SIGH!

11/18/2011 – Last WOD before Thanksgiving Break

18 Nov

I feel like I’m in school getting a Thanksgiving break from CFPA. The box will be closed next week, so I’m not sure what I’ll be doing to stay active. I’m doing the 5k Silicon Valley Turkey Trot on Thursday. Not going to push myself because I want to stick with some friends and support them. Should be fun just to get out there and see so many people get their fitness on!

Today we worked on Push Press and I paired up with Jackie again!

Push Press: 63(5)-68#(5)-73#(5)-78#(3)-78#(3)

The last time I did Push Press was in June. I decided to stick to similar weight. I have to work on keeping the elbows up as I dip. I don’t want the elbows to go down when I dip because then there’s more work to bring the bar up.

WOD:

3 Rounds For Time

  • 21 Kettlebell SDHP(24Kg/16Kg)
  • 15 KB Swings
  • 9 Handstand Push Ups
  • I used the 16kg bell and the SDHPs seemed pretty easy for me. The swings went unbroken in all rounds. I used the jet pack for the HSPUs. What sucked was that in the last round, I got of the jet pack 3 times, versus not getting off the jet pack the first 2 rounds. Shoulders were burning, but I should of mentally push through. It was a good WOD though! Great way to end the week!

    Snack: Small Primal Pac

Lunch: Kalua Pork with brussel sprouts

    Snack: Sea Snax

Knocked out probably a little bit before 8.

    11/16/2011 – Good Eats

    17 Nov

I’m super sore today! Can’t wait for the rest day tomorrow.

Breakfast: Coffee with heavy cream. Chicken breast with roasted carrots and sweet potatoes

Lunch: Hamachi Sashimi, 2 california rolls(no rice), 1 spicy tuna roll(no rice)

I left work a little early to beat some traffic and pick up my Marin Sun Farms Meat CSA Package. We ordered 50lb of Old Spot Heritage Pork. Most of the cuts weren’t labeled, so honestly, I do not know what they are! Some looked really bloody and slimy, so it could be heart or liver. LOL. I can’t wait to see what I can do with it though. Sous Vide machine in full effect! In addition to the pork, I got Package #1 which contains 24lb of “mystery” meat. We got all beef this time, which is fine with me because we love beef. Unfortunately, I’m still not sure whether to subscribe to the CSA for the long term. I’m trying to budget out how much we spend on food next year, so we don’t overspend. And honestly, we don’t really eat other types of meat such as lamb or veal.

Here’s our packed freezer below. You see the package on the left? I have no clue what that is. It really sucks that they didn’t label the cuts.

For dinner, we had Kalua Pork with kale and roasted brussel sprouts. Yummy!

I had two packages of SeaSnax after I got home.

    11/16/2011 – Happy Hump Day!

    16 Nov

Another good workout at CrossFit Palo Alto. I paired up with Jackie to work on our Front Squats.

    Front Squats: 73#(5)-93#(3)-113#(3)-123#(1)-128#(1)

I was having trouble with 113# on my last rep. Jackie yelled out to get the elbows up, and that got me to finish the rep. The single reps were alright, not perfect form either. Hopefully I can get close to 138 next week. We’ll see!!

    Onto our WOD:

    For Time:

  • 500m Row
  • 30 Burpee Plates
  • 400m Run
  • 30 Pull Ups
  • I started on the row with Fitbomb, Terminator, and Ivan. I was seated next to Fitbomb, and tried to keep up with him. Every time he pulled, I would pull, but of course I can’t get the same distance that he gets with 1 pull. Ultimately, I was the last of the row, with 50m left when the guys started on their burpees.

Once I got to the burpees, I just couldn’t position myself properly so I wouldn’t hit my head on the plate. But I got through those, of course not fast enough, and left for the run. When I got back I had about 2 minutes before the 10 minute mark would hit. I tried to do 10 pull ups in a row, even though I was dead tired, but only made it to 9. Then I kept jumping on and off after every 3rd or 4th pull up. Seriously, I need to work on my cardio and grip strength and just try to push through the pain. It’s probably just a mental thing. Terminator and Fitbomb finished the entire WOD right when I came back from the run because they did the 30 pull ups unbroken! BADASS!

    11/15/2011 – Good Eats

    16 Nov

After my workout, I got some coffee from Philz Coffee. Yes, I left work to get coffee. Cravings!

For breakfast, I had chicken with roasted carrots and sweet potatoes.

Lunch was last night’s dinner, Roast Beef with sauteed Kale and half an avocado. I got the recipe from the Sous Vide Holiday Recipe book. Super simple, and super yummy!

I got hungry around 2, like really hungry! You think it’s because I haven’t eaten enough carbs? I need to start adding two veggies into every meal again. Luckily I brought some Applegate Roast Beef deli meat with me. I had 2 slices with the other half of my avocado.

I came home a bit early and wanted to prep tomorrow night’s dinner, which was Kalua Pig. I bought a butt cut from the Farmer’s Market last Sunday, and have been craving some good juicy pork. I also whipped up a quick batch of Homemade Mayo. It’s so easy when your egg is at room temperature. This is probably the best batch of mayo that I’ve every made.

We went out to dinner for our friend’s bday at New Krung Thai. I know, not the best place get good servings of carbs, protein, and fat without MSG and sugar. I tried not to stress about it, and stuck to the chicken satay and red chicken curry. I probably had too much protein and not enough veggies. There were hardly any veggies on the table except what was in my curry which was bamboo shoots and bell peppers. No noodles or rice for me.

I came home and was still hungry, so I had one package of SeaSnax.

    11/15/2011 – 480 Workout

    15 Nov

After a sleepless night, I left the house at 5:30 and needed a pick me up. I doubt it’s the best thing to go workout after a night of interrupted sleep, but it’s not like I can sleep pass 5 anyways. My body is so used to be up at that time, and my mind is already racing.

I decided to do a workout from One Fit Foodie, called 480 Workout. I came across it on twitter, so if you aren’t all up on twitter, then you better get on it! There’s a whole bunch of information out there based on your interest. Much more than staying connected with friends.

Anyways, I thought it was a good body weight workout, and I thought I could get it done quick. Looked simple and easy enough. I did the warmup and workout within 30 minutes. LOL…I thought I would be done within 20, but nope, I was way wrong! It totally kicked my butt, and I felt good afterwards.

    11/14/2011 – Good Eats

    15 Nov

I am going to stay committed and try to track my calories AGAIN. I need to stay between the 1300-1400 range on days that I’m not active, and maybe 1500-1600 on days that I am active. It’s sort of hard to get these calories in and trying to get the right macro nutrient ratio as well. A lot of people say not to count calories while eating Paleo, and that might be true for some people. But I think for my goals, I need to track what I eat and the quantity of it, because I’m trying to lose the LAST 10 pounds. I’m using fitday, and I’m estimating how much I eat, not exactly measuring everything! So I’m trying to do this as stress free as possible. It’s way too much work to measure every single thing. Also, I’m trying to eat until 80% full, and drink lots and lots of water.

Breakfast: 2 fried eggs with spinach. Covered in bacon fat.

Lunch: Meat sauce with sauteed kale & onions

Snack: Primal Pac Ohhh, when I came home I got a big delivery of SeaSnax! I munched on a few of these with lil’ munchkin’. 🙂

Dinner: 6 oz Roast Beef with a couple slices of roasted carrots and sweet potatoes. I cooked the rib roast in the sous vide. O.M.G…so freakin’ GOOD!! The texture of the beef is so soft, and it definitely tasted like prime rib. Way better than roasting it in an oven. Too bad I didn’t take any pics. I ate my 6oz piece while cutting it up for hubby. I need to stop doing that! I ended up not eating dinner with him and not having any veggies to go with my meat.

Sleep sucked last night! Lil’ AMRAP was not in a good mood. And he woke up at 12 and 3. 😦

I had 2 liters of water. Hopefully that was enough.

    Total Calories: ~1282
    Fat G:91.1(63%)
Protein G: 98.6 (32%) . Approximately .8 grams of protein per bodyweight lb
    Carbs G: 19.4 (6%)

    11/14/2011 – Monday’s Workout

    14 Nov

After my sugar binge, I was surprised that I made it into CFPA. Although I must admit that I’ve felt a lot of energy at CrossFit the day after I carb binge.

    Skill today…

    Kettlebell Snatches: 5(12kg)-5-5-8-8-8-5(16kg)-5

I got through the sets of 5 and 8, so I decided to up the weight and see how I would do. It was difficult, and I felt wobbly, but I’m glad that I practiced the snatches with the heavy weight.

    Onto our WOD:

    4 Rounds For Time

  • 10 Power Cleans(155#/115#) – Used 78#
  • 20 Ring Rows
  • 30 Rope Jumps
  • Wow..these are some heavy power cleans. During my “fittest” days, I was only able to squat clean 115#, and it wasn’t pretty. So, of course I didn’t go RX’d today. My goal is to get to 95# power clean in WODs, so hopefully in a couple months I’ll be there. The ring rows were the hardest, and I scaled it a bit by putting my legs up instead of a plank position.

    11/14/2011 – Weekend Recap

    14 Nov

Alrighty, here goes! About two weeks ago, I said I wouldn’t have any extra sugar in my diet. I made it BARELY! Towards the end of this week, I’ve been eating more and more dark chocolate. Never buy large bars of dark chocolate…it’s a trap! At least for me it is. LOL.

Anyways, I ate pretty cleanly until Sunday morning. We had reservations at La Fondue Sunday night because hubby and I wanted to celebrate 13 years together. I knew I wasn’t going to be eating clean, so why not just make it a cheat day. Or what I call a binge. So, I had coffeecake, Hawaiian Cookies that my mom brought back from Maui, 4 King’s Hawaiian Sweet Bread. This was all before we left for dinner at 8.

Hubby and I have never been to La Fondue, so it was nice experience. I’m not that much of a fan of dipping my food in cheese or chocolate, but I couldn’t resist the Yelp Deal that surprised my inbox last month. We started off with appetizers and a Chef Salad. We chose the Cajun Cheese and dipped bread, vegetables, and fruits with it. Our “deal” came with a variety of all the meats that they served on grill. It included alligator, kangaroo, bison, and other “exotic” type meats. It was a lot of food, and we didn’t finish everything. We just cooked up what we didn’t eat and moved onto dessert. I thought dessert was the best part. Of course I would right?! I chowed down on rice krispy treats, strawberries, cookie dough, apples, oranges…you get my drift. All dipped in melted chocolate with pecans and caramel. MMMmmmMMMMMMm. Yes the fat girl came out. I even had 1/2 a glass of wine. It sucks that hubby and I aren’t wine drinkers, because the deal came with a bottle of wine. We still had 1/2 the bottle left. Yes, wild and crazy we are! LOL…hey it was a Sunday night, I have to make it to CrossFit.

Too bad I didn’t really take any pics. I didn’t want to bring attention to the table considering that the place was really dark, and hubby and I were literally facing another couple across the way. It was a good cheat day, but time to get back on the diet band wagon and lose these last 10 pounds!! Time to make some changes!!!

    Here’s a pic of La Fondue’s lobby.
