08/20/2012 – Power Cleans and Helen

It’s the last week of our cycle and today was Power Cleans. I wasn’t mentally prepared for getting a PR because I missed last weeks cycle. I tried but failed.

Power Cleans: 63#(5)-83#(3)-93#(3)-103#(3)-113#(1)-120#(F)

Tim noticed that as I pulled the bar up, the bar was flying away from me. Steve said that same thing when I went to Catalyst on Saturday while practicing Snatches. Something to work on, especially if I want to go heavier. Everything felt good, I just wasn’t ready for 120#. 118 was my PR, so I didn’t want to do that again. Next time! Till then, I just gotta practice form with lighter weight.

For our WOD, we did HELL-EN!

For some reason I thought my PR before was right under 10, but I was wrong. The last time we did Helen(in May, I matched my PR of 10:24. I did pretty good the first two rounds, not getting of the pull up bar and going straight through with the kettlebells. The last round was touch. The run felt slow and mentally, I knew I had to get through the kettlebells. I’ve done more than 30 in a row before(multiple rounds), and this was JUST 21, so I had to get through it without putting the bell down. Success! Next was getting through the last 12 pull ups. I dropped 3 times. Argh! But I made it. 9:58. Forearms, hamstrings, quads were burning, but I did it! YAHOOOO!

Helen is totally mental. I have to fight through the pain, make sure grip is good for the pull ups, and just FINISH! Next time, unbroken is the goal!

I got to work and finished off my workout day with bench presses. 3×12 @ 73#

Great way to start a Monday.

08/17/2012 – Good Eats

Today was my off Friday but we didn’t do anything exciting because I Lil’ Munchkin’ came down with a fever last night. It’s a mild fever, but we wanted to play it safe and keep him inside. Too bad because the weather was beautiful.

Food was simple and good.

For breakfast, I had an 8 egg white omelet with veggies, sweet potatoes, and a cup of blueberries.

I got hungry around 11:30 and had a flank steak with broccoli and carrots.

I had a chicken breast salad around 4 which I forgot to take a picture of.

One of our friends came over and we ordered a couple pounds of shrimp from this cajun place. I had a few shrimp with this bowl of flank and veggies. I didn’t add any other fat because the shrimp was covered in garlic and butter. I didn’t suck on the shell, so once I peeled it, most of the sauce was gone. Trying to limit fat on workout days.

Day 57 of 100 Day Push Up Challenge done. I’m going to Catalyst to their weightlifting session tomorrow. Hopefully I can learn a few more things!

08/16/2012 – Good Eats

Today’s my virtual Friday, so I wanted to get into work early, walk on the treadmill for a bit and do work.

I did speed intervals at 9.0 mph for 8 rounds, 30 secs on 90 seconds off. Then I walked uphill the rest of the time until 45 minutes hit. I practiced double unders after and did my 56 push ups for the day. I’m glad I finished and was ready to get to work. I walked into the locker room and realized…I FORGOT MY FREAKIN’ SHOES! Argh. Wednesday I forgot my tennis shoes, today I forgot my shoe shoes! Dammit. So much for getting into work early. I showered, changed, and drove back home to get my sandals. Sigh. At least I finished my workout right?!

Here’s how I ate for the day.

Breakfast was egg whites plus 2 eggs covered in veggies.

Lunch was 4oz of rib eye steak with cabbage slaw.

I scarfed down my 3rd meal right before I left work to attend Lil’ Munchkin’s Luau at school. Salmon and green beans.

Dinner was a flank steak salad with 1/4 of an avocado.

Keepin’ it simple and easy today. Hopefully tomorrow and the weekend will be the same. 🙂

08/15/2012 – Good Eats

Here’s a recap of what I ate on this fine Hump Day! I grabbed the wrong container this morning, and it did not contain my breakfast that I made the night before. No fear though, my work cafeteria can make me a veggie egg white omelet. Yes…yes, I know egg whites aren’t very nutritious compared to the yolks, but I need the protein more than the fat on training days. Remember, eat for your goals!

BTW, I had sweet potatoes in the container that I left at home, and no my work did not have any sweet potatoes. I had to get 1/2 a cup of dried oatmeal from my coworker. I need my starch for the day.

I don’t know how to make oatmeal. It spilled all over!


Lunch was chicken breast with homemade gravy and veggies.

Mid-afternoon meal was ground beef with cauliflower rice.

Dinner was chicken breast with more gravy and veggies.

Day 55 of the 100 Day Push Up Challenge done, and I did not count the time trials as part of the push ups. 😉

08/11/2012 – LA Wedding Recap

HELLO! I’m so behind on my posts. Let’s just say I fell off the clean eats bandwagon on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. I tried to live a little. And guess what…mother nature came for a visit. FINALLY. I wonder if it has anything to do with adding over 200g of carbs back into my diet(that number is a guess), for a couple of days. Let’s just say I’m back on the straight and narrow and more focused than ever. Not happy with how chunky I look, but I think my metabolism is repairing itself right now. I’m definitely getting stronger and gaining muscle, that’s for sure. Just not losing any fat yet, which makes for a thick XFitMama.

Anyways, I started to take pics of what I ate Friday, and then didn’t really remember to take pics the rest of the weekend. I had alcohol, cupcakes(mmmMMMMmmm), tuna melts sandwiches, pancakes, chicken melt sandwiches, late night in-n-out runs(protein style of course), and DIM SUM! I can’t go to LA without dim sum. 🙂 I was craving veggies by the end and got a roasted veggies salad at California Pizza Kitchen. Best salad ever!

Oh, and I got a good workout in on Saturday. I went to a 24 Hour Fitness with a couple of the guys. I had a choice between shopping and working out, and of course I chose the workout. I deadlifted and benched with them, then we went our separate ways. Hmm…maybe because I caused a scene when we deadlifted. LOL. I did dumbell snatches, walking lunches, 500m row, and back extensions. Yes, it was very random, but I didn’t know what else to do. I felt so lost in a globo gym, but it definitely felt good to get a lifting session in. Especially since I had a huge breakfast that morning(omelet, pancakes).

That’s a wrap for the LA trip. Jen asked me to stay strict this week, and I have to. I just gotta follow the plan.

08/14/2012 – Good Eats

Aaah back to work and back to the routine. I really don’t have any good food prepared this week. I sous vided some meat, and put a chicken in the slow cooker this morning. That way I have lots of protein for the rest of the week.

Here’s how I cleaned up my act. Breakfast was 2 eggs, 3oz of ground beef with broccoli and kale.

My coworker and I did 20x20m Sprints for our workout. I forgot my shoes, so we did it on the volleyball court where there was sand. Then we did 3 rounds of 50m tire flips. It was fun to just get out and move.

I grabbed lunch at my work cafeteria which SUCKED. I got some meat in tomato sauce with steamed cauliflower and raw spinach. I had a tablespoon of almond butter to go with it, but it still left me starving.

I left work early so I could go to Trader Joe’s and pick up some groceries. I stocked up on veggies, sweet potatoes, and more eggs.

Once I got home, I quickly made myself another meal. Grassfed Paleo Stix with raw bell peppers and cucumbers. I drizzled EVOO over the veggies.

For dinner, I had 3oz Rib Eye steak with sauerkraut and roasted brussel sprouts. I also had a small piece of chicken from the slow cooker.

I was starving today! I couldn’t figure out why, whether it was the coffee I had or I just didn’t eat enough breakfast. Then I remember…100 Burpees…for time. Cardio blast.

I had egg whites with sweet potatoes, cauliflower rice, and half a banana.

For lunch I went to The Counter and had a Bison Burger Salad with half a serving of sweet potato fries.
