08/25 and 08/26 – Weekend Good Eats

Here’s some food that I ate two weeks ago! I went to a baby shower at a Nail Salon. We got to relax, get our nails did, and enjoy GF time. Love my girls.

I didn’t take many pics of what I ate. I just remember I ate clean except for the alcohol that I consumed at the shower. 🙂

08/11/2012 – LA Wedding Recap

HELLO! I’m so behind on my posts. Let’s just say I fell off the clean eats bandwagon on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. I tried to live a little. And guess what…mother nature came for a visit. FINALLY. I wonder if it has anything to do with adding over 200g of carbs back into my diet(that number is a guess), for a couple of days. Let’s just say I’m back on the straight and narrow and more focused than ever. Not happy with how chunky I look, but I think my metabolism is repairing itself right now. I’m definitely getting stronger and gaining muscle, that’s for sure. Just not losing any fat yet, which makes for a thick XFitMama.

Anyways, I started to take pics of what I ate Friday, and then didn’t really remember to take pics the rest of the weekend. I had alcohol, cupcakes(mmmMMMMmmm), tuna melts sandwiches, pancakes, chicken melt sandwiches, late night in-n-out runs(protein style of course), and DIM SUM! I can’t go to LA without dim sum. 🙂 I was craving veggies by the end and got a roasted veggies salad at California Pizza Kitchen. Best salad ever!

Oh, and I got a good workout in on Saturday. I went to a 24 Hour Fitness with a couple of the guys. I had a choice between shopping and working out, and of course I chose the workout. I deadlifted and benched with them, then we went our separate ways. Hmm…maybe because I caused a scene when we deadlifted. LOL. I did dumbell snatches, walking lunches, 500m row, and back extensions. Yes, it was very random, but I didn’t know what else to do. I felt so lost in a globo gym, but it definitely felt good to get a lifting session in. Especially since I had a huge breakfast that morning(omelet, pancakes).

That’s a wrap for the LA trip. Jen asked me to stay strict this week, and I have to. I just gotta follow the plan.

07/28/2012 – Extra Workout and GNO

Tonight is Girl’s Night Out(GNO)! Even though I saw most of the girls last week at Lil’ AMRAP’s birthday party, we haven’t had a chance to all hang out and have a drink or two. With work, family, and stuff we individually focus on, it’s hard to get together. But when we do, it’s like we were never apart. Don’t you love that type of friendship?! ❤

Anyways, I knew I was going out, and I was going to have a drink and dessert, so I did a workout today. I decided to tackle some deadlifts and work on KB Swings. For the deadlifts, I changed my grip around because I didn't want to aggravate my right should and elbow. So, my left palm was facing foward, and right palm facing me. It's a little awkward and I don't feel as strong, but it's better than trying to work too hard on the right side. Plus it's always good to switch things around.

I started off with breakfast and created a cous cous hash. I used cauliflower, onion powder and curry powder for the cous cous. So good! I mixed it in with leftover salmon and two eggs. I had 1/4 of an avocado for fat. Yummy!!!

Before I ate lunch, I did my workout.

Deadlifts: 65#(5)-115#(5)-155#(5)-185#(5)-205#(5)

For the last set, I stepped away from the bar twice. I just had to reset and mentally make sure I could pull it.

After the deadlifts, I did 5 Rounds of 30 Kettlbell Swings using the 16kg bell. I rested a minute between each round. The goal is to finish the 30 swings within 1 minute. If you don’t, you are suppose to row 1000m as a penalty for each round missed. I missed the last two rounds. I ran 400m for penalty. LOL. I got this workout from CrossFit One World’s site.

For lunch I had 4oz london broil with green beans, cauliflower cous cous, and avocado.

For my 3rd meal I had 3oz of duck leg with cous cous, more green beans, and a small piece of sweet potato.

Alrighty, here is where it starts to go downhill. My meals were pretty early in the day, so I tried not to eat until we were out, but our reservations weren’t till 8:15. I finished the last of the dried cranberries. Yes, I killed this bag within 3 days.

For dinner, we went to Limon SF, a peruvian restaurant. Everything was delicious! I had Rotisserie Chicken, Ceviche, Hanger Steak, Yucca Fries, Sweet Potato fries, Green Beans, and bit of Truffle Mac and Cheese. Here are some of the pics.

I had half a glass of sangria and sipped on a Caiparinha. I had to drive so I didn’t drink that much.

Afterwards we went to Candybar. Candybar is this cute little place in SF where you just hang out, order desserts, alcohol, and play board games. It’s so cute! Here are some pics of our dessert. I only got two pictures, but we ordered way more.

I got home at 1:30…way past my bedtime. And I had to get up at 6:30. So worth it!

07/14-07/15 Weekend Recap

I didn’t take many pics this weekend because we had guests from LA. On Saturday, I was good with two meals from the nutrition plan. I didn’t have my 3rd meal until we got back to Palo Alto. It was Thai food. I stuck with meat and veggies. Then I had an off meal plan. Pizza and alcohol. Yes, I was craving pizza again.

On Sunday I did the usually Famer’s Market stuff and had to prepare for the week. I couldn’t eat until the afternoon. I’m not suppose to IF, but after alcohol and pizza I wasn’t really in the mood to eat. It’s not like I had a lot of alcohol,
I was just feeling grossed and tired. I stuck to veggies and meat when I did eat. Back to normal routines tomorrow!

07/09/2012 – Good Eats

Alrighty, here’s how I ate today with an off meal plan.

First, I started off with a good breakfast. Spinach egg white omelet with sweet potatoes, roasted broccoli, curry cauliflower, and strawberries.

For lunch I went to Chipotle and picked up a carnitas salad with black beans. I had black beans at my desk, but eeeeh they weren’t tasty.

I had my 3rd meal around 3:15. I munched on raw bell peppers and 1 package of Paleo Stix.

When I got home, I made Nom Nom Paleo’s Slow Cooker Chicken and Gravy, but I put the chicken in the pressure cooker. It took 30 minutes! As I was picking the chicken apart, I was munchkin on it too. This is why my plate looks so bare.

Now, here comes the off meal plan. I was thinking about having the off meal plan all day today and I finally caved. Seems like a good day since I wouldn’t be working out that much this week. We got pizza slices and garlic breadsticks. I had the “Hollywood” which was a pesto pizza with artichokes, sun-dried tomatoes, olives, and parmesean. It’s the first time I’ve had pesto pizza and it was yummy! I also had half the order of breadsticks. I think I was just craving the bread, because I picked the cheese out of the breadsticks. So Yummy! Yes, paleo gods I have sinned!

Alrighty, time to be on the straight and narrow for the next few days. It’s been awhile since I’ve had gluten and it was so worth it!

07/04/2012 – 4th of July Eats

Happy 4th of July! I started the day off at CFPA doing Daniel. That was a fun one, and I’m definitely glad I got my workout in.

Today’s eats contained a lot of protein, veggies, and more Paleo Krunch. Yes, weird that I would want Paleo Krunch for an off meal plan, but that’s what I get when I don’t have anything to cheat with at home. Anyways, before I get to my off meal plan, let me tell you how I ate at the beginning of the day.

Breakfast was the norm, 8 egg white omelet with spinach, veggies, sweet potatoes, and blueberries.

I had some coffee from Philz too with a little bit of Cocoa. They put like 1/4 of a tablespoon in there, but I barely drank any of it. I took maybe two big sips.

For lunch, I went over to my uncle’s house and chowed down on lots of meat. Here was my first plate.

Red cabbage slaw, asparagus, and two chicken thighs. And um, here’s my second plate.

Bare bones right? It was Korean Short Ribs and some St. Louis Spareribs. That kept me full all afternoon. There were other temptations, but I didn’t have any of it. Like this ice cream cake from Cold Stone.

I got home around 4, and we were hosting a small little BBQ with friends. I was suppose to have my 3rd meal, but I didn’t. Lil’ Munchkin’ came down with a small fever when we got home, so I was tending to him, and trying to help hubby get the meats ready for our own BBQ. I ended up not eating until after 7:30. I had portobello mushrooms, sautéed kale, chicken beer sausage and steak. Yummy!

I could of just ended the night there, but just went for the treat. I opened up a tub of Paleo Krunch, and made myself a little cereal with dried cranberries and a dap of coconut milk.

I probably overate a lot today. Hope this wasn’t too detrimental. It’s hard to stay on course with a holiday weekend. Excuses excuses right?!

06/27/2012 -Good Eats and Overeating

Aaaah, everything was great with my eats today until the end. Sigh. Let’s start off with all the good eats I had through the day.

After I got to my desk(8ish), I quickly scarfed up my egg white omelet with mushrooms and veggies. I roasted some beets, so I had some of that as well. I’m not sure how I feel about beets yet. They still have this weird after taste to me. Anyways, today was a starchy day, so I had my sweet potato and fruit.



I ate lunch around 12. It was Moroccan Meatballs with veggies and more of the beets from my breakfast.

I had my third meal right before I left work at 4. Pan-seared scallops with sauteed greens and carrots. Yummy!

All those meals kept me full until 7:30. We didn’t want to eat until after we put the kids to bed. I had SousVided a few pieces of GrassFed Sirloin Tip Steaks and all I needed to do was pan fry them. It turned out delicious! I had that with Dill Pickle Sauerkraut and Ginger Beet sauerkraut. My fats were avocado and macadamia nuts.

Now…here comes the bad. I decided to roast some cashews for emergency purposes. I ended up tasting a few, and all of a sudden, I ate almost all of the cashews that I did roast. 😦 I should of stopped myself, but I didn’t! Ugh! I feel pudgy now and not really happy with myself. I did so well, then I decided to snack. I need to stay focused and not slip at all. Jen has given me rules on the “off meal” plans and I should implement them the correct way, not take advantage of them. I should feel lucky that I even get “off meal” plans. This makes me want to go run a few miles, or do an extra workout. But no, I will not do that. I must deal with overeating by other means. I can’t continue to compensate bad habits with over-training. That will just get me in trouble with my hormones and screw them up even more. Okay, rant over. Today(Thursday) will be better!
