09/28/2011 – Fun with Zercher Squats and OHS

29 Sep

Before I get to thw workout, I just wanted to say that my eats have still been clean and yummy. I made Kalua Pig on Monday, and now we hae pork that will last us a week or more. That is mainly what I’ve been eating, with different sides of veggies such as chard, tomatoes, roasted curry cauliflower, green beans, etc. As for sugar, I’ve been eating grapes and watermelon still. I have pictures, but I’ll post them later.

Anyways, onto Wednesdays’ fun workout. Its our last week with Zercher Squats, and when I did it in December, I PR-ed with 140#! When I did it while pregnant I got to 130#. Here were my loads this time around:

Zercher Squats(I can here Tim saying this in my hand every time I type it. LOL.): 65#(3)-85#(3)-100#(1)-110#(1)-120#(1)

Now that I look back, I forgot that we did tis in May because I couldn’t find it in my log book, so I thought I couldn’t get to 140. Had I known that I did this while pregnant, I would of tried to go for 130# to match what I did while preggs. Oh well, there is always next time. All the reps felt good, so no complaints there!

Our WOD was a good met-con one:

3 RFT:

  • 400m Run
  • 15 OHS(95#/65#)
  • 10 Toes to Bar
  • I haven’t done OHS in months!! Like maybe 6 months, because I can’t recall doing it pregnant. I quickly decided to do it RX’d because I love OHS even though it is the hardest movement for me. I knew I wouldn’t be fast either. I was slow on the run, and on my last round of OHS, I dropped the bar at least 4 times. It was a good one, and I finished last! Yes, I’m super slow!

    Result: 16:18 RX’d

    09/26/2011 – Sleepy Monday Workout

    26 Sep

Man, I’ve been up since 3AM! Lil’ AMRAP was bugging out, so I fed him and he feel asleep. He started to cry again right before I left, so I was able to settle him down, but didn’t have a chance to fall back asleep before I had to leave to CFPA. I swear I was falling asleep on the drive over.

It’s our last week of the strength cycle, and today was Power Cleans. Here were my loads:

    Power Cleans: 63#(5)-83#(3)-93#(1)-98#(1)-103#(1)-108#(F)

Looks like I’m 10 pounds down from my previous PR of 113. Not bad, I guess. I definitely felt stronger than I did 2 weeks ago, so I’m happy.

Our WOD only lasted 10 minutes, but it was challenging.

    10 Minute AMRAP:

  • 10 Right Hand Dumbbell Snatch(40/30)
  • 10 Clapping Push Ups
  • 10 Left Hand Dumbbell Snatch(40/30)
  • 10 Chin Ups
  • I decided from the beginning that I wasn’t going to do unassisted chin ups because I knew I would have to do singles within the first or second round. For the snatches, I used a 25# dumbbell, because I don’t think I’m ready for the 30 yet. SOON!!! VERY SOON! The snatches were pretty easy for me, and I did them unbroken. The push ups were hard because I would miss my hands sometimes, and fall flat on my chest. Ouch. Especially for someone who is breastfeeding and sort of engorged. LOL. The chin ups felt good, but of course they would feel good if I’m doing with the purple band. The kip really helped me get through the chin ups.

This was a fun one, and definitely woke me up from my drowsy-ness. Can’t wait till I have a chance to do it RX’d.

    Result: 3 Rounds + 24 reps not RX’d

    09/25/2011 – Relaxing Sunday

    26 Sep

Aaah, this will be the only weekend where our family will get to relax and really do nothing. For the next three weeks, we have something going on both days, AND I’m going back to work too. So it’ll be a big adjustment.

I started the day by making lil’ munchkin’ two hardboiled eggs. Once he was finished, we left to go to the Mountain View Farmer’s market so I could pick up pastured eggs, veggies, and fruits. Yum!

Once I got home, I started to prep food for the week. We’ll be having guest staying at the house, so I’m not sure if I’ll have time to cook much. I defrosted a pork shoulder to make Kalua Pig. As I was prepping all the veggies I bought, I munched on leftover sirloin tip with veggies. It was basically a whole day of snacking here and there, so no picture.

I’m made some chicken broth for Bun Thang. I put a whole chicken with water, shallots, and fish sauce. It’s super simple.

Once the soup was simmering, I started to make lunch with the mussels we got from Siren SeaSA. I was afraid the mussels had died, because I left them out in the sink for 4 or 5 hours without ice bathing them. Woopsy. I decided to cook them anyways, and if the mussels didn’t open, then I knew they weren’t any good to eat.

Hubby suggested I simmer it in white wine sauce and butter. Luckily, NomNom Paleo posted a recipe for this. I basically did everything that she said, except I used dill as an herb, and no curry powder. Also, I used leftover white wine that we had open. Here’s the finished product:

    Yummy to my tummy!

For dinner, hubby cooked up our Grassfed New York Steak that we had. We haven’t had steak in awhile! It was soooo good! We paired it with sauteed mushrooms and spinach.

I only ate half the steak. I have to remind myself to buy more spinach. I never buy enough, because they always wilt when I cook, and it turns out to nothing!!

Hope everyone has a great week!

09/24/2011 – Good Eats (Date Night Part 2)

    25 Sep

What, we went on another date. Yes we did. Bad parents! This weekend was the first weekend where we’ve been out alone since Lil’ AMRAP was born. I think we deserve it since it is our anniversary. ❤

I started the day off with a couple bites of lil' munchkin's hard boiled egg. I was busy all morning running errands.

For lunch, I had leftover Grass fed sirloin tip with veggies. I didn't want to eat too much because we were going to have sushi for dinner. Hubby wanted to eat at Sushi Sam's in San Mateo. I love the fish there because it taste so fresh! I had some hamachi sashimi, white king salmon, ocean trout, fatty tuna(toro), and broiled hamachi kana. No rice, no soy sauce. Can you believe that?! I guess I won't be cheating this weekend, even though I was expecting to.

Another good day, with good clean eating. YUMMY!

09/23/2011 – Good Eats (Date Night Part 1)

    25 Sep

Let’s see if I can remember what I ate on Friday.

Breakfast: Leftover Duck Confiet with sauerkraut and heirloom tomatoes.

Lunch: Grassfed Sirloin Tip with veggies

Dinner: Hubby and I went to the city to celebrate our anniversary. It’s not until Thursday, but we can’t really do anything on the weekdays, and we have guests staying at our house starting Thursday. So a lot is going on. We decided to just keep it mellow and eat at CrawStation. It’s like Boiling Crab, but I think it’s much much better. We ordered 1 crab(lemon pepper & dynamite), 2lbs of Shrimp(garlic butter & dynamite), 1lb of clams(lemon&pepper, dynamite), sweet potato fries, and house noodles. I didn’t eat any of the house noodles. When the good started to come out, I dipped into the clams because they looked delicious. After I clam, my mouth was BURNING. Dynamite was a sauce made with habaneros. SUPER SPICY. Spicy to the point where the food was not yummy anymore. I decided not to suck on the sauce and try to just eat the meat. The crab was GOOOOD, shrimp was alright.

Afterwards, we went to CandyBar, but the wait was too long. I guess we’ll have to visit next time. I wanted dessert too. I guess it just wasn’t meant to be.

    Dessert: Watermelon

    Weighted Pullups and Lotta Tabata

    24 Sep

It’s Friday! For a split second this morning I thought about not going to CFPA. But, I was already up, so why no. I want to lose the ab-flab right?

Today we worked on our weighted pull ups. I still havent tried any extra weight yet, but I definitely felt stronger than last week. One bodyweight pull up felt decent, so hopefully I can get 3 next week.

    Weighted Pull-ups 5(Red) – 4 (Purple) – 5 (Purple) – 1 Body Weight – 3(Purple) – 1 Body Weight

We ended Friday with a great WOD.

    Lotta Tabata(x6)

  • Muscle Snatch(45#/35#)
  • Back Squat/Push Press(45#/35#)
  • Deadlift Pushup(135#/95#)
  • Split Jerk(45#/35#)
  • I was really excited to do the WOD because I love throwing weight around. All the movements seemed easy, and I thought I could do a lot in 20 seconds. However, when we got to the 4th round of muscle snatch, my shoulders were starting to burn. I tried to hold the bar between rounds, but that didn’t help. The most difficult movement for me was the Deadlift/Push up. You had to definitely use you core to do the pushup(chest must touch bar). I was only able to get 3 reps in 20 seconds. I tried to make up the reps in the Split Jerk, and kept my 8 reps throughout all 6 rounds. The Back Squat/Push Press was the movement where I was the most inconsistent. I went from 8 to 7 to 5.

Result: 23 reps RX’d. 3 reps shy from the last time I did it in October 2010.

    09/22/11 – Good Eats

    23 Sep

    Breakfast: More chicken and veggies

Lunch: Slow cooker beef short ribs with green beans

Snack: Salami and turkey deli meat

    Dinner: Duck confiet with veggies

watermelon and grapes sprinkled throughout the day.

    Zercher Squats and Burpee Heaven

    23 Sep

Is it burpee heaven or burpee hell?! Maybe a little bit of both, but I’ll get to that later.

Today, I partnered up with Jeff who was visiting from out of town. We worked on our Zercher Squats, and since it was the second week, I felt like I should give it my all.

    Zercher Squats: 65#(5)-85#(3)-95#(3)-100#(1)-110#(1)

All the reps felt really good. It wasn’t perfect with 110# because I felt like I was doing the stripper move, but I got it up!

Onto the burpees…Tim said our WOD was a “classic” one at the beginning of class. I was trying to figure out what it was, thinking of all the named WODs. When he wrote it up on the board, it was a simple one…

    100 BURPEES

Hmmm…I should of been practicing my burpees more while I was away. I knew I could get through 30 easily because I did them a few week ago. How was I going to get through 70 more without slowing down. My legs started to burn at about 40, and arms were getting tight too. I need to practice speed, so maybe I’ll do death by burpees next week. I just told myself to keep moving no matter how slow I am to get up for the jump overhead.

All in all, it was a great simple total body workout, something that I need to get rid of this flab. But next time, I want under 10 minutes!!!

    Result: 10:42 Rx’d

    09/21/11 – Good Eats

    23 Sep

So behind on blogging, so it’ll be a quick rundown of what my phone can remember!

Breakfast: 2 pieces of green chicken with green bans and cauliflower fried rice.

Lunch: Went to the city with a friend. We went to try a Turkish restaurant called Troya because I had a groupon that is expiring. When I got there, they said the groupon wouldn’t work for lunch. Argh!!! So my friend suggested a Vietnamese restaurant called Turtle Tower. It’s suppose to be really good. but eeh it was ooo-kay. I tried to stay as Paleo as possible, but its hard when you go to asian restaurants, because all their meats are marinated in sugar, soy sauce and MSG. I got a grilled catfish seasoned in tumeric, anda side of grilled pork. I discarded the vermicelli, and just ate the protein with salad. No pic.

Dinner: I roasted a whole chicken for dinner with Sunny Paris seasoning. My sides were roasted veggies. It was tasty and made up for my crappy lunch. Sorry no pic.

    Dessert: Watermelon

Lunch – roasted pork leg with broccoli, carrots, & 1/4 avocado

Dinner – 3 pieces of green chicken with nuked green beans and cauliflower fried rice
